The government is taking a firm stance to safeguard state revenue amid ongoing global economic pressures. Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, emphasized that there will be zero tolerance for officials who fail to perform their duties seriously.
Strict Measure: Threat of Dismissal
Purbaya stated that officials within the Ministry of Finance who are found to be negligent or “not serious” in optimizing state revenue may face strict sanctions, including being removed from their positions (nonjob).
This policy follows direct instructions from Prabowo Subianto as part of efforts to strengthen discipline and performance within government institutions.
Previously, regulations only allowed reassignment to different positions. However, dismissal is now an option to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
Indonesia in “Survival Mode”
According to Purbaya, these firm measures are necessary as Indonesia is currently in a “survival mode” — striving to withstand the impact of global economic uncertainties.
In such conditions, there is no room for inefficiency, especially in critical sectors like taxation and state revenue collection.
He stressed that any lack of seriousness in managing tax revenue could have severe consequences for the country’s economic stability.
Focus: Securing State Revenue
The government remains committed to securing state revenue through various strategic measures. All programs under the Ministry of Finance will be closely monitored to ensure optimal implementation.
Purbaya also highlighted that every initiative must be executed with full commitment. Otherwise, Indonesia risks falling behind other nations in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
A Strong Message to Public Officials
This move sends a clear signal that underperformance will not be tolerated. Professionalism, integrity, and accountability are essential in maintaining national economic resilience. Amid global challenges, every government official is expected to work with greater focus, discipline, and responsibility to safeguard Indonesia’s economic stability.
