Largest Tax-Contributing Sectors Until April 2026

Indonesia’s tax revenue performance showed a strong upward trend in early 2026. As of the end of April 2026, the government successfully collected IDR 646.3 trillion in tax revenue, equivalent to 27.4% of the 2026 State Budget (APBN) target of IDR 2,357.7 trillion. On an annual basis, tax revenue grew by 16.1% compared to the same period last year.

Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, stated that the government remains optimistic about pushing tax revenue growth toward 20% throughout the year.

1. Trade Sector Becomes the Largest Contributor

The trade sector recorded the highest contribution to national tax revenue, reaching IDR 161 trillion or around 24.9% of total tax revenue. Net growth in this sector surged by 47.6%.

This increase was mainly driven by the growth of fuel wholesale trading activities and the continued expansion of online shopping and e-commerce transactions across Indonesia.

2. Manufacturing Industry Remains Strong

The manufacturing sector ranked second, contributing IDR 145.3 trillion or approximately 22.5% of total tax revenue. The sector recorded net growth of 8.4%.

Positive performance in the manufacturing industry was primarily supported by rising profitability in the palm oil processing industry, which continues to be one of Indonesia’s major export drivers.

3. Mining Sector Supported by Commodity Prices

The mining sector contributed IDR 56.7 trillion in tax revenue, accounting for 8.8% of total national tax revenue. Net growth in this sector reached 6.8%.

Growth in the mining sector was supported by oil and gas activities as well as strong global commodity prices.

4. Construction and Real Estate Continue to Grow

Meanwhile, the construction and real estate sector generated IDR 24.2 trillion in tax revenue, contributing 3.7% to the national total. The sector experienced moderate growth of 0.8%.

Growth mainly came from the privately owned real estate subsector, which continued to show positive activity amid current economic conditions.

Highest Tax Revenue Categories

Based on tax categories, Value Added Tax (VAT) and Luxury Goods Sales Tax (PPnBM) became the largest contributors, generating IDR 221.2 trillion with growth reaching 40.2%.

This was followed by Corporate Income Tax and Corporate Income Tax Deposits amounting to IDR 135.2 trillion with 5.1% growth, while Individual Income Tax and Article 21 Income Tax contributed IDR 101.1 trillion with growth of 25.1%. According to Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, the tax revenue data indicates that economic activity and public purchasing power remain relatively strong despite global economic slowdown concerns.
